Prof Gordon Dougan

Gordon’s research focuses on the microbial pathogenesis of enteric pathogens, linking experimental models with epidemiological and evolutionary studies in countries where typhoid and other forms of salmonellosis are endemic. During his career, Gordon has pioneered work on enteric diseases and has been heavily involved in the movement to improve vaccine usage in developing countries. Gordon has participated in early and late clinical studies on several vaccines and is an expert in vaccinology, specialising in the immunology of mucosal vaccines and vaccine design.
