DPhil Candidate

MRC Centre for Genomics and Global Health, UK

The Wellcome Trust Centre for Human Genetics, University of Oxford, UK

With support from the CGGH, Jacob is currently pursuing his PhD, with a focus on methods for fine-resolution mapping of Plasmodium parasite population structure, demography events and the detection of recent evolutionary changes in parasite populations. His main research interests are population genetics and evolutionary events that shape the emergence of drug resistance. He first joined the CGGH as a Software Engineer based at the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute, where he played a key role in developing and optimising software to share and analyse the vast DNA sequence datasets which are being produced by CGGH collaborators, including the development of ExplorerCat for MalariaGEN.
