Dr Sarah Auburn

Senior Research Officer

Menzies School of Health Research, Australia

Sarah’s primary focus is on utilising information on the genetic make-up of the malaria parasite Plasmodium vivax to gain insights into the biological mechanisms underlying antimalarial drug resistance, and to monitor the parasite’s transmission dynamics within and across borders. Her current research on Plasmodium genetics provides a strong link between the CGGH and the Asia Pacific Malaria Elimination Network (APMEN) through her role as a research support officer. A key component of Sarah’s work is to provide capacity building support to researchers in malaria endemic countries. Mediated by this role, Sarah has established collaborations with researchers from a range of countries enabling the development of a network to support global P. vivax genetic epidemiology studies.
