Title:

Associate Scientist

Institution:

Malaria Epidemiology of Drug Resistance Unit (MRTC), Mali

Title:

Post-doctoral Researcher

Institution:

Bernhard Nocht Institute for Topical Medicine (BNITM), Germany

Oumou’s research interests lie primarily in the molecular resistance of antimalarial drugs identified by studying the genetic diversity and population structure of Plasmodium falciparum and isolating signatures of natural selection. At the MRTC, Oumou is studying the genetic evolution of malaria parasites in an area of seasonal transmission. She is also involved in the analysis of host factors affecting parasite clearance. At the BNITM, Oumou is part of the Infectious Disease Epidemiology Unit, which currently focuses on co-infections of malaria and bacterial or viral diseases in the Ashanti region of Ghana and in Madagascar. Oumou is also a member of the Plasmodium Diversity Network Africa (PDNA).
