Dr Lemu Golassa

Lemu is an early career researcher at Addis Ababa University working on Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs), although malaria is his main focus. His research interests include the study of population structure and genetic diversity of Plasmodium falciparum in Ethiopia; determining the ratio of wild-type vs mutant genotypes among parasites found in symptomatic and asymptomatic subjects in relation to antimalarial drugs resistance that has already been developed; and monitoring the efficacy of Artemisinin Combination Therapy (ACTs) in order to spot signs of emerging resistance. Lemu is also a member of the Plasmodium Diversity Network Africa (PDNA).
