Edwin leads an active malaria surveillance protocol in six sites across Kenya, with additional sites planned. He is also involved with an on-going efficacy clinical trial in Western Kenya to assess the parasite clearance rates following treatment with Artemisinin Combination Therapy (ACT), which is scheduled to include a follow-up efficacy study. Edwin’s research interests include drug resistance and drug-resistance-associated mutations in Plasmodium falciparum; genetic lineages; population genetics and structure through in vitro susceptibility testing; genetic profiling; molecular analysis and efficacy trials. Edwin is also a member of the Plasmodium Diversity Network Africa (PDNA).
