Alistair is the informatics lead for Anopheles 1000 Genomes (Ag1000g) Project, a consortial project involving whole genome sequencing of 1500 mosquito specimens from 13 African countries. He is also the lead analyst for the MalariaGEN Plasmodium falciparum genetic crosses project, which is evaluating new methods for the discovery of genetic variation in parasite populations from high throughput sequence data. Alistair is involved in the design and development of web-based applications to support large data-sharing network, including MalariaGEN and WWARN, with a particularly focus on clinical and epidemiological data. This work has included the development of the first release of the WWARN online data submission system; a data standardisation tool, Petl; and web tools for accessing genotype data for the MalariaGEN P. falciparum Community Project
